O papel do distúrbio na regeneração natural dos ecossistemas florestais

Resumo

Este trabalho apresenta uma revisão acerca do papel do distúrbio na regeneração dos ecossistemas florestais. Várias hipóteses são atualmente levantadas para explicar a diversidade dos trópicos e entre elas está a ação do distúrbio. Assim, o presente trabalho aborda o conceito de distúrbio e a importância da sua escala para a observação dos fenômenos espaciais e temporais, mecanismos que promovem a coexistência entre as espécies na regeneração desses ecossistemas e por fim, o papel do fogo como distúrbio e agente modificador das comunidades vegetais. A revisão busca entrelaçar conceitos antigos com aplicações atuais e divergentes em seu desenvolvimento, com uma discussão extensa sobre o assunto. Conclui-se sobre uma nova forma de buscar compreender a grande diversidade nos trópicos, sendo o papel fundamental do distúrbio na resposta da regeneração natural.
