Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by difficulties in social interaction, communication, and repetitive behaviors. This study examines the impact of autism on families, focusing on the challenges faced by parents and caregivers. The methodology included a literature review on the subject, complemented by a qualitative interview with the mother of an autistic child. The interview provided an in-depth analysis of daily difficulties, coping strategies, and the emotional and social impact of the diagnosis. The results indicate that autism can lead to emotional and financial strain on families, requiring continuous support. Furthermore, access to psychological and educational assistance proved essential for caregiver adaptation. The study concludes that strengthening support networks and implementing inclusive public policies are crucial to minimizing challenges and promoting greater well-being for both families and autistic children.
