Resumo

Objective: to present a theoretical model related to the persuasive power of Facebook, and the influence of social norms on the consumption of alcohol in young people. Results: the Roy adaptation model was applied to the phenomenon of media use and alcohol consumption facilitated by use of the theory derivation process proposed by Walker and Avant. As a practical discipline, nursing requires theoretical frameworks contextualized to the various research phenomena in order to best guide both practice and research. Conclusion: the resulting model could be useful for establishing interventions that may help to prevent or reduce alcohol consumption in young people.
