PHILOSOPHY AND CARTOGRAPHY: AN UNUSUAL DIALOGUE?

Upon entering the university, the student of the Geography degree course can be led to build an image of independence between the different disciplines that make up the curriculum matrix. To show the mistake of this fragmented view of the curriculum, this work implements the dialogue between two disciplines that, for the unwary, are not related. In this philosophical exercise, exemplified in the dialogue between Philosophy and Cartography, the objective is, in fact, to establish the principles for a dialectical formation of the “university spirit”. Furthermore, it poses the challenge so that the university, rescuing this dialectical tradition, will be able to foster honest intellectual dialogue between different areas of knowledge.
