Abstract

The involvement of parents and/or guardians has been one of the topics of debate in the construction of a participatory education aimed at improving the quality of the teaching and learning process these days and constitutes one of the main priorities of the Mozambican government. This article aims to analyze the involvement of parents and guardians in improving the process of teaching and learning to read for 3rd grade students at EPC do Vaz - In Beira City. In order to achieve the objectives set out in this research, we resorted to descriptive qualitative research, the bibliographic method, the inductive method, using observation and interview techniques. As for your sample, we used the intentional criterion taking into account the type of study in terms of its approach and objectives. Of the 45 parents and/guardians interviewed, 24 reveal in this investigation that the causes of their weak involvement in the teaching and learning process of their students have been the lack of time due to occupations in the service, 5 are not good at reading and 16 they have an explainer who replaces their role, due to their unavailability. From the data collected and processed, we conclude that the level of involvement of parents and guardians is so low, despite the fact that they play a fundamental role in improving the quality of the process of teaching and learning to read for students.
