Abstract

This text dialogues with the Mẽbêngôkre everyday life, especially with the traditional education
experienced by children in their interactions with elders and their peers. This process activates the senses of
seeing, listening, playing, and doing, which lead to knowing well. From this perspective, we write, guided by
experiences and thesis research with the Mẽbêngôkre, aiming to understand how learning practices occur in
Mẽbêngôkre education, enabling them to keep tradition, customs, and culture alive. We envision a pedagogy of learning that differs from the educational process practiced in school, as the culture and traditions of this people do not require a school to develop; rather, it is, above all, a learning deeply rooted in the territory,
based on profound respect for the environment, where they nurture and strengthen bodies to prepare for
adulthood.
